St James Needs Your Help!Come and join the crew as we spruce up the church yard and gardens on Saturday, November 21 from 8:30 am to 12:00 pm (rain date is Saturday, December 5). We’ll be cleaning out mulch beds, raking leaves, cleaning out gutters, cutting back brush along the property lines, general clean-up, and some other potential projects. Shining StarWould you like a way to love your neighbor during the Christmas season? Once again, we are asking God to work through us, to be a blessing to those in need through Shining Star. By God‘s grace, we will be providing $50 Giant gift cards to enable families in need to purchase food for a Christmas dinner. We will be mailing the gift cards to our recipients, or giving them to our community partners to distribute. The names of recipients will be referred to us by community organizations, including schools and social service agencies. Ways to Sponsor a Christmas Dinner Gift Card

Offering plate: Place your donation in the offering plate in a sealed envelope with Shining Star written on it. If you are giving cash, please include your name and address so you can receive information for tax purposes.
Giving electronically: Open the Tithe.ly app Enter the amount of your gift Choose Shining Star in the drop-down. You can also give online through Tithe.ly from the church website, click GIVE.

Adult Servant Trip 2027In the wake of Hurricane Helene, communities across Western North Carolina are still facing an uphill battle to rebuild. We are organizing an Adult Servant Trip to partner with Lutheran Disaster Response (LDR) Carolinas to bring tangible help and hope to those who need it most. Projects may include: clean out, drywall, painting, insulation, trim, doors, flooring, decks, chainsaw work, and debris removal. Trip length: 5-7 days Participants: adults 21 yrs or older, 12-15 max Cost: as low as ~$200 per person (+ adjustments for food, fuel etc) Lodging: heated/plumbed cabins at Lutherridge Camp & Conference Center, Arden, NC Dates - to be determined - interest/availability

Bible Study OpportunitiesTuesday Afternoon Zoom Bible StudyWe are discussing the book of Acts, which details the spread of the early Christian church after Jesus' ascension, focusing on the work of the Holy Spirit through the apostles, especially Peter and Paul. It highlights the growth of the church from Jerusalem to the wider Roman world, emphasizing the inclusion of Gentiles and the power of the gospel. The group meets Tuesdays at 11:30 am.Tuesday Night Zoom Bible Study- Starts on 9/15We are discussing the Gospel of John. Every chapter reveals Jesus’ deity, through every title He is given - the Word, the only Son, Lamb of God, true bread, life, resurrection, vine, and “I am”. This group meets at 6:45 pm.

Thursday Bible Study - Starts on 9/17We are discussing the book of Isaiah because it powerfully weaves together God’s holiness, justice, mercy, and hope. Isaiah speaks honestly about sin and suffering while continually pointing to God’s promise of redemption and restoration. Its rich prophecies about the Messiah, its calls to trust God in difficult times, and its vision of peace invite deep reflection, meaningful discussion, and personal application. This group meets Thursday mornings from 11 AM – 12:15 PM at the Willow Run Club House, at 200 Village Way, off Ridge Pike in Limerick.
