Next Lesson: How’d We Get Here?Our next lesson in the “Confirmation, Again” program will be all about Church history and will take an ambitious and quick journey through 2000 years of church history, hitting all of the major events in 90 minutes or less. Here are just a few of the events we will talk about: Council of Jerusalem Persecution of the Early Church The Edict of Milan Council of Nicea The Great Schism The Protestant Reformation The Great Awakening The First and Second Vatican Council The Formation of the ELCA
This class will be taught at two different times and at two different locations: Thursday, November 12th, 7:00pm at St. James, Limerick

St James Needs Your Help!Come and join the crew as we spruce up the church yard and gardens on Saturday, November 21 from 8:30 am to 12:00 pm (rain date is Saturday, December 5). We’ll be cleaning out mulch beds, raking leaves, cleaning out gutters, cutting back brush along the property lines, general clean-up, and some other potential projects. Additional Property ProjectsThe Property team recently met with Church Council to discuss tasks and projects that can be done to improve the safety, efficiency and aesthetics of the church. Many of these projects are being tackled by a small number of volunteers. We have projects identified for outdoors and indoors with varying degrees of difficulty. Some of them will get addressed the during our clean up on 11/21. Others could be put off until 2027. However, there are several that can be tackled quickly with additional support. If you are able to come and help for the morning, it could make a significant impact. Please talk with any of our property team for details. If you’d like a sneak peak at the project list, it is available for view.

Blood Drive + Hygiene DriveWe’ll be hosting the Red Cross at St James on Friday, November 27 from 12 - 5pm. In addition to supporting the blood drive, we are also collecting personal hygiene items for Spring-Ford Project Outreach. Most Needed Personal Care Items: Toilet paper and paper towels Soap, body wash, shampoo, and conditioner Toothbrushes and toothpaste Deodorant Baby wipes and diapers Household cleaning and sanitizing products
All hygiene products, toiletries, paper products, and cleaning supplies must be brand new, unopened, and within their expiration dates for health and safety reasons. You can reserve your blood/platelet donation time at St James Blood Drive SignUp.

Christmas Candy Sale
Order candy for your Christmas holidays from the Women of St. James. This group uses the money they raise to bless the ministries of St. James and many charities which help people in need. The women are selling Reppert's Candy. There are pound boxes of regular assortment candies in milk or dark chocolate. You can place your order on the order sheet on the bulletin board next to the Ladies Room. Orders must be received by Sunday, November 29. Candy will be ready to be picked up on December 13 and 20. If you pay for your candy with a check, please make it payable to the Women of St. James. Thank you for the support of this project.

Shining StarWould you like a way to love your neighbor during the Christmas season? Once again, we are asking God to work through us, to be a blessing to those in need through Shining Star. By God‘s grace, we will be providing $50 Giant gift cards to enable families in need to purchase food for a Christmas dinner. We will be mailing the gift cards to our recipients, or giving them to our community partners to distribute. The names of recipients will be referred to us by community organizations, including schools and social service agencies. Ways to Sponsor a Christmas Dinner Gift Card

Adult Servant Trip 2027In the wake of Hurricane Helene, communities across Western North Carolina are still facing an uphill battle to rebuild. We are organizing an Adult Servant Trip to partner with Lutheran Disaster Response (LDR) Carolinas to bring tangible help and hope to those who need it most. Projects may include: clean out, drywall, painting, insulation, trim, doors, flooring, decks, chainsaw work, and debris removal. Trip length: 5-7 days Participants: adults 21 yrs or older, 12-15 max Cost: as low as ~$200 per person (+ adjustments for food, fuel etc) Lodging: heated/plumbed cabins at Lutherridge Camp & Conference Center, Arden, NC Dates - to be determined - interest/availability

Bible Study OpportunitiesTuesday Afternoon Zoom Bible StudyWe are discussing the book of Acts, which details the spread of the early Christian church after Jesus' ascension, focusing on the work of the Holy Spirit through the apostles, especially Peter and Paul. It highlights the growth of the church from Jerusalem to the wider Roman world, emphasizing the inclusion of Gentiles and the power of the gospel. The group meets Tuesdays at 11:30 am.Tuesday Night Zoom Bible Study- Starts on 9/15We are discussing the Gospel of John. Every chapter reveals Jesus’ deity, through every title He is given - the Word, the only Son, Lamb of God, true bread, life, resurrection, vine, and “I am”. This group meets at 6:45 pm.

Thursday Bible Study - Starts on 9/17We are discussing the book of Isaiah because it powerfully weaves together God’s holiness, justice, mercy, and hope. Isaiah speaks honestly about sin and suffering while continually pointing to God’s promise of redemption and restoration. Its rich prophecies about the Messiah, its calls to trust God in difficult times, and its vision of peace invite deep reflection, meaningful discussion, and personal application. This group meets Thursday mornings from 11 AM – 12:15 PM at the Willow Run Club House, at 200 Village Way, off Ridge Pike in Limerick.
