Prayer to the Good Shepherd
Divine Shepherd,
I have known death, through the loss of loved ones,
and You have refreshed my soul.
I have known fear,
and You have comforted me.
I have known hunger for many things,
and You have set a feast before me.
In the darkest valley,
no disaster has separated us.
Teach me to walk as You walk,
beside those who are mourning,
so that they will know joy.
Walking beside those in fear,
that they will know comfort.
Standing beside those in hunger,
that they will feast until their cup overflows.
As Your goodness and love follow me,
Help me walk with my neighbor, sharing the story of Your love.
May their worst fears dissolve in the warmth of Your light.
Together may we come into Your presence, in the house of the Lord,
Where You have invited us to dwell forever.
Lead us to the peaceful streams of Your grace and mercy, Good Shepherd. Amen.
