By His Grace
For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast. Ephesians 2:8-9
In a world that teaches us to earn everything—success, approval, love—God’s grace stands in sharp contrast. Ephesians 2:8-9 reminds us that salvation is not a reward for good behavior or personal effort. It is a gift. Freely given. Undeserved.
God’s grace is not a backup plan for when we fail; it is the plan. From the very beginning, He knew we could never climb our way to Him by our own merit. So He came to us—in Jesus—bridging the gap our sin had created.
There’s a deep rest in knowing that our salvation doesn’t depend on our performance. We don’t have to strive to be “good enough.” God’s grace says, “You are already loved. You are already chosen.” All we do is receive it through faith.
This truth humbles us, silences our pride, and fills us with gratitude. And it moves us—not to earn His favor—but to live in response to it, walking in the good works He has prepared for us ( Ephesians 2:10).
Lord God, thank You for Your abundant, overwhelming, life-giving grace! In Jesus’ name, Amen.
