My Happy Place
But for me it is good to be near God; I have made the Lord God my refuge, that I may tell of all your works. Psalm 73:28
I have more than one happy place. My early, quiet morning meetings with Him are my ultimate favorites. But I also love my writing table. It is here, in this corner, that I can write about my best Friend and share my thoughts. From my chair, I watch turkeys come out of the woods, birds at the feeders, deer come and go, pigeons cleaning up the deer corn and…well, you get the picture.
It is here that His Word comes alive in my heart. This is where the Holy Spirit helps me organize my day. In these precious moments, I am urged to pray and I find comfort and assurance that God hears my prayers. Here I wrestle with questions about the condition of our world, forgiveness, being able to love as Jesus did, accepting His will over mine and more.
A happy place can be a location or time. I have not given much thought to it, but it can probably be more than just those two. Where is your corner of contentment, inspiration, peace, and great joy? We all have one. Sometimes we just need to pin-point those moments and settle in.
As the sky lightens with dawn, the birds have begun their chatter. I thank Him for all of nature and for a good night’s sleep. The Holy Spirit inspires and enables my fingers to run over the keys to write these devotions. They come from deep within! On my own, I am unable to share as I do.
Let me hear in the morning of your steadfast love, for in you I trust. Make me know the way I should go, for to you I lift up my soul. Psalm 143:8 (ESV)
The night is far gone; the day is at hand. So then let us cast off the works of darkness and put on the armor of light. Romans 13:12 (ESV)
Satisfy us in the morning with your steadfast love, that we may rejoice and be glad all our days. Psalm 90:14 (ESV)
What happens if you are not a morning person? Many of you are not! Don’t panic, He will meet you whenever, wherever you are because He loves you. Let Him lead you to your happy place. He’s already there waiting for you. That’s a promise!
