Our Paltry Supplies

Your love, O LORD, reaches to the heavens, your faithfulness to the skies. Psalm 36:5 (NIV)

ME: Jesus, thank You for a wonderful weekend and the topper was seeing the moon become visible in the sunny sky. You are such a masterful Designer!

JESUS: Thank You for noticing.

ME: I never get tired of seeing all the beauty and nature that You have created. It is like a breath of fresh air to my soul when I see stuff like this.

JESUS: Yes, I am aware of that!

ME: You know, I feel totally insignificant and miniscule compared to You. I can do nothing of greatness—except… well…say thank You.

JESUS: Your thinking is not quite right regarding this matter. Your greatness, worth, value, or whatever you want to call it does not come from creating or doing something. You are who you are—My creation, My design and that is your most important asset. The plan I’ve given you is something to be treasured and protected at all costs.

ME: Jesus, I look at my paltry supplies and somedays I just shrug my shoulders. What can I possibly do with them to make the world a better place.

JESUS: Again, you are off track. You are not what you own! You are just passing through here and have no need for elaborate material possessions. Your supplies lie deep within you, and I am teaching you how to use them wisely as needed. Let me remind you that the birds do not worry about what to eat or wear. The moon does not panic if the sun is still shining when I tell it to rise.

ME: I understand all that in my head, but my heart says I should be doing more for You. You are my living Redeemer, and I want to do more.

JESUS: What is it you want to do?

ME: Make a difference.

JESUS: Tell Me what you need to make someone’s day? To offer assurance of love? To comfort the brokenhearted? To calm a fearful child. You are over analyzing all this again. Just be who I created you to be. Are you questioning Your Creator?

ME: Of course not. Wait! Am I?

JESUS: You are mighty close. Be yourself, precious child, and I’ll take care of the rest.

ME: (Silence)
