The Perfect Home
There is more than enough room in my Father’s home. If this were not so, would I have told you that I am going to prepare a place for you? When everything is ready, I will come and get you, so that you will always be with me where I am. John 14:3-4
When was the last time you felt homesick? Maybe it was after a big move, a life change, or even just a moment when you longed for the familiar comfort of a place you once knew. Have you ever gone back to your hometown and were surprised at how much everything had changed? The field where you played as a child is now a shopping center. I remember the last time I left the home I grew up in. I was overwhelmed with emotion—gratitude for the beautiful memories of the family I love, sadness knowing I was saying goodbye to a very important chapter of life, and a deep awareness of how vital "home" is to our sense of belonging and peace.
Jesus speaks directly to that longing in our hearts when He assures us that there is more than enough room in His Father’s home. He knows how much we yearn for a place where we are fully accepted, fully loved, and eternally secure. His promise isn't just about the future; it's a present comfort. He is preparing a place, not just a house, but a home—one where we will be with Him forever, through faith in Him.
That means your sense of homesickness here isn’t without hope. It’s a reminder that you were made for more—made for Him. And when the time is right, Jesus Himself will come to bring you home.
The longing you feel for home is God’s whisper reminding you that the best is yet to come.
Lord, thank You for the promise that You are preparing a place for us. When we feel homesick—physically or spiritually—remind us that our true home is with You. Help us to find peace in Your presence today and trust in the hope of being with You forever. Amen
