Can You Just Stop for a Moment?

Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of

your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing

and perfect will. Romans 12:2

ME: Jesus, I worry too much and some of it is really dumb stuff. I get concerned when I hear a

hawk screech and see lots of bird feathers on the ground. I run to make sure all the chicks are

accounted for. I know, they are just chickens and there are more serious problems in the world. I

read the news and shake my head in disbelief. I get text messages from dear friends with medical

issues that don’t look good. I worry…but I also pray.

JESUS: Can you just stop for a moment! Stop worrying long enough to hear My voice. I truly

speak softly to you, in the depths of your being but you cannot hear Me because your mind

shuttles back and forth, hither and yon, weaving webs of anxious confusion.

ME: I know! I want to know how to get control of this defect and how to change my ways. I

guess I need to trust You more than worry.

JESUS: My precious child, as My thoughts rise within you, they cannot get through because My

voice is muffled. You only hear white noise as you pack on the worry.

ME: I don’t want to be like that anymore. What should I do?

JESUS: It is something that needs practice. Ask My Spirit to quiet your mind so that you can

think My thoughts. You will find that this is an awesome benefit of knowing me. You were made

in My image. I do not worry or fuss.

ME: Sometimes it is a bit overwhelming because of what is happening in the world—even in my

little world.

JESUS: Do not be deafened by the noise of the world or that of your own thinking.

ME: You make it all sound so easy but in real life, it is like a war zone.

JESUS: That is why I offer this peace to you. Sit quietly in My Presence, letting My thoughts

reprogram your thinking.

ME: I always feel so much better after I talk to You. Thank You!
