Fear Not

Fear not, little flock, for it is your Father's good pleasure to give you the kingdom. Luke 12:32

In this single, tender verse, Jesus speaks volumes to the anxious heart. He calls His followers a "little flock"—a gentle reminder of our vulnerability, our smallness, and yet our belonging. The language here is intimate. It doesn’t just identify us as a crowd or a group, but as beloved sheep under the care of a Shepherd.

Jesus acknowledges the fear we carry. The fear of not having enough, of not being enough, of the unknown future. In the broader context of Luke 12, He has just told His disciples not to worry about their lives, what they will eat, or what they will wear. Why? Because we have a Father—a God who doesn’t just provide grudgingly, but delights in giving us the kingdom.

Let that sink in: It is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom. Not a burden, not a reluctant obligation. But His Pleasure. He wants to give us eternal life, the fullness of His rule, the joy of His presence, and the peace of His reign—starting now and lasting forever.

When fear creeps in—fear about finances, health, family, or anything else —remember that you are not just one among billions, overlooked or unheard. You are part of a “little flock” that is dearly loved. The God of all creation calls Himself your Father, He knows your name, and He finds joy in giving you what you need, especially His kingdom.

So today, surrender your fear to Him. Rest in the Shepherd's care. Trust that your Father is not distant, but near and generous with His love.

Father, thank You for calling us part of Your flock, through faith in Christ. Thank You for taking pleasure in giving us the kingdom. When we’re afraid, remind us that we belong to You, and You are both our Shepherd and King. Help us follow You today with peace, knowing we’re secure in Your love. Amen.
