Praying for Others

"Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others". Philippians 2:4

ME: Having a lot of time on my hands is probably not the best idea for me. Jesus, I sort of feel like I am being punished for something, but I don’t know what I’ve done wrong.

JESUS: Are you telling Me that having more time to be with Me is not a good thing?

ME: Oh no! That thought did not even come to mind. But this is not my style or my desire to use a walker and have physical restrictions.

JESUS: But I am with you so it’s not all bad.

ME: It’s always great when You are with me. Sometimes I just forget.

JESUS: So, what do you want to do today?

ME: I need to take a walk, and You’ve provided a beautiful day. Thank You. I’ll write a couple devotions. I have Bible study then I’ll nap. Following that is a church meeting late this afternoon. Some friends are stopping in to see us at 6:00pm.

JESUS: …And you feel restricted?

ME: I guess that sounds like a lot, doesn’t it?

JESUS: Yesterday at the hospital you saw many people in the orthopedic waiting room. You even commented about the pain on their faces. I noticed that you didn’t pray for those in more pain than you. You didn’t pray for their healing. I understand your own discomfort and stress level and this is not to make you feel guilty. You need to know that prayer is powerful. In your healing and the healing of others.

ME: I was just focused on me. I confess that I was only thinking of myself. I am so sorry!

JESUS: I love you, precious child of Mine. You are forgiven. But are you willing to take this down time to immerse yourself in prayers for others. It will fill your days.

ME: It seems like all I have is time right now.

JESUS: So, use it wisely. There are many out there that need your prayers. Let your body heal. Your prayers will bless others…as well as yourself.

Don’t Stop Praying

Loving Lord, please help those who are hurting right now. Guide them, place your arms around them and give them strength. AMEN.
