Sealed by Love
Place me like a seal over your heart, like a seal on your arm, for love is as strong as death, its jealousy unyielding as the grave. It burns like blazing fire, like a mighty flame. Song of Solomon 8:6 (NIV)
When I see a forest fire, I am reduced to a puddle of tears as I know the animals in its path will probably not survive. This particular devotion caught my attention because of the catastrophic results of these natural disasters. Never have I compared God’s love to a blazing inferno or a high wall of water but Sara Perry (Jesus Is First for Women) has done a fine job likening God’s love to these events.

The love of God is like a blazing inferno that overtakes drought-stricken lands. It will not relent. It is like mighty ocean waters that rise with the force of a tsunami, covering all in its path. However, love does not destroy the way fires and floods do. His love overtakes everything it touches, but it brings life instead of death.
This fierce love is the same love that reaches you today. It is not wimpy or weak. It is not unsure or finicky. It is steady. It is strong, and it is more than enough for all your needs. Let the love of God sweep through you. Do not fight; surrender to it. There is more than enough love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, and power—all the things you are looking for—in its depths.

Yes, we are sealed by His love and He is never going to let go of us. His love will never run out and it has absolute power. There is nothing on this earth that is stronger.
What a comforting thought!
Jessus, thank You for letting love compel You. It took You beyond the bounds of heaven, to the earth, to the grave, and ultimately to Your throne again. I want to be fueled by Your passion, Lord. Set me ablaze for You and Your purposes. AMEN.
