My Jesus Time

And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him. Colossians 3:17 (ESV)

Since our two black kittens (Stan and Ollie) came to live with us, life has changed. I am very grateful that we took two from that box of feline babies back in March. They entertain each other and are bonded siblings. I dearly love them; however, they don’t yet seem to have a very good concept of the word bedtime.

When Michael turns out the light, to them it must mean it’s time for ‘Cir de Soule’.  Playtime begins and they race up and down the bed and hop from one body to the other. They tumble and cry out in pain when the other bites too hard or is too rough. But I wouldn’t change a thing!

Most nights I try to calm their zoomies to no avail so I get up and wander back downstairs about 10:30 or later. That is their green light to cut loose and get crazy—and they do. They play and I settle into my writing mode. The only struggle I have is when they want to camp out on my open laptop. But all I have to do is throw a couple of toys and their attention shifts.

My quiet time used to be when I got up at 4am. The house was still and there was no other demand for my attention. I still have my precious moments (usually about 2 hours) where I pray, read God’s word, and write about things that are prompted by the Holy Spirit. Nothing stands in the way of our meeting times.

To be honest, I probably would have every right to feel frustrated and annoyed because they have turned my nights/days upside down, but instead I am grateful. I have made a new appointment time where He meets me and we talk about things—including his creatures, Stan and Ollie.

Make time for Him during your day. The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness. Lamentations 3:22-23 (ESV).

My meeting time has changed, but not the joyful, peaceful, and calm moments we share—with or without two black kittens.

Faithful

Gracious God, thank You for Stan and Ollie and all their antics. As Your mercies are new every day, I’m grateful for the time we spend together regardless of what the clock says. AMEN.
