Seeking Jesus with All Your Heart
You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart. Jeremiah 29:13
God's promise in Jeremiah 29:13 is one of the most beautiful invitations in all of Scripture. He assures His people that He is not distant or hidden from those who sincerely desire Him. When we seek God with an undivided heart, He promises that we will find Him.
One of the greatest places we find Him is in His Word. The Bible is much more than a collection of historical accounts, poetry, letters, and prophecy—it is God's story of redemption, with Jesus Christ at its very center. From Genesis to Revelation, every page reveals something of His character, His love, His grace, and His saving work.
As we read the Old Testament, we discover promises, prophecies, and pictures that point us to Christ. We see God's plan unfolding through His covenant with Abraham, the Passover lamb, the sacrificial system, the ministry of the prophets, and the hope of a coming King. The New Testament then reveals that promised Savior in the person of Jesus Christ. His life, death, resurrection, and promised return complete the story that began in the opening pages of Scripture.
The more we read the Bible with our eyes fixed on Jesus, the more we come to know who He truly is. We see His faithfulness in every generation, His mercy toward sinners, His compassion for the broken, His power over sin and death, and His unwavering love for His people. Scripture not only teaches us about Jesus—it brings us into a deeper relationship with Him.
Reading God's Word is not simply about gaining more knowledge; it is about knowing the Author. As we spend time in the Scriptures, the Holy Spirit opens our hearts to understand Christ more fully. Our love for Him grows. Our trust in Him deepens. Our worship becomes richer because we see more clearly the beauty of our Savior.
Jeremiah's promise reminds us that seeking God is never a futile pursuit. Every time we open the Bible with a humble and willing heart, we are placing ourselves in the path of knowing Jesus more deeply. And as we know Him more, we are transformed into His likeness and drawn into closer fellowship with Him.
Today, don't simply read the Bible to finish a chapter or complete a plan. Read it to seek Jesus. Ask God to reveal His Son on every page. We will discover that the greatest treasure in Scripture is not merely information, it is the living Savior who invites us to know Him more each day.
Heavenly Father, thank You for Your promise that those who seek You with all their heart will find You. Open our eyes as we read Your Word so that we may see Jesus more clearly. Help us to love Him more deeply, trust Him more fully, and follow Him more faithfully. May Your Word draw us into a closer relationship with our Savior each day. In Jesus' name, Amen.
