I Believe
I remain confident of this: I will see the goodness of the LORD in the land of the living. Psalm 27:13 (NIV)
Sometimes my own personal devotion time resonates deeply within me. This one did! I have frequently been thinking about kindness and how easy it is to show this simple act to someone—anyone we meet during our day. But first we must know where that urge or desire comes from. Jesus Christ was/is the definition of kindness. Sara Perry (Jesus First) has a clear message for each of us in this meaningful devotion.

The Lord has not stopped being good (and kind) just because we struggle to recognize His goodness in our circumstances. He has not stopped working His mercy in our lives even if we cannot spot it as easily as we once did. He is forever faithful, always overflowing in loyal love, kindness, and never weary.
Though our moods and energy constantly shift, Jesus is steady and constant. He is not easily upset, and He does not threaten to remove His presence from us when we waver. No matter how little or how much faith we have at the moment let’s remember that God is faithful. May our confidence rest in His constant character. On our good days and bad days, may we recite with the psalmist, “I remain confident of this: I will see the goodness of the LORD in the land of the living.”

We are often bogged down by life events and we forget that Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever (Hebrews 13:8, ESV). Find His goodness in every day. Look for it in your daily walk and along the way, and for heaven’s sake—be kind.
He never forgets us so we might want to consider reciprocating.
Jesus, you are my confidence and my strength. You are my hope and where my satisfaction lies. I trust you to continue to work out your goodness in my life and in this world. I know You are not finished yet. AMEN.
