All Saints Prayer
Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight and the sin that clings so closely, and let us run with perseverance the race that is set before us, looking to Jesus the pioneer and perfecter of our faith, who for the sake of the joy that was set before him endured the cross, disregarding its shame, and has taken his seat at the right hand of the throne of God. Hebrews 12:1–2
Tomorrow we will gather to worship God and express gratitude for the great cloud of witnesses, the saints who have gone before us, whose faith has helped shaped our own. All Saints Sunday reminds us that we are part of a living, eternal family, united across time and place in Christ’s love. Their stories encourage us to keep running the race of faith, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the One who conquered death and opened to us the way of everlasting life.
Gracious and Eternal God,
we give You thanks for the saints,
for all who have loved You and served You faithfully,
for those whose names we remember and those known only to You.
We thank You for the light of their witness,
shining across generations,
reminding us that Your grace endures forever.
As we remember their lives,
inspire us to walk in faith, hope, and love.
Strengthen us when we grow weary,
comfort us when we grieve,
and remind us that we are never alone.
We are surrounded by the communion of saints
and upheld by the power of Your Spirit.
Help us to live as Your holy people in this world:
to seek justice, love mercy, and walk humbly with You, our God.
Until that day when we, too, join the saints in glory everlasting,
singing together, “Holy, holy, holy is the Lord God Almighty.”
In the name of Jesus Christ,
the risen Lord and Savior, we pray.
Amen.
