True Beauty

Give unto the LORD the glory due to His name, worship the LORD in the beauty of holiness. Psalm 29:2 (NIV)

Sarah Young (Jesus Calling) has such a way with words. Today’s devotion made me stop and really think about true beauty. What is truly beautiful? That is a tough question to answer! Could it be a healthy newborn baby or a baby born with issues? How about a ride in the country with plenty of sunshine or pouring down rain? Each reflects some of His greatness! To find the beauty in either of these situations, we must completely trust His will for us in the moment.

Worship Me in the beauty of holiness. All true beauty reflects some of who I AM. I am working My ways in you: the divine Artist creating loveliness within your being. My main work is to clear out debris and clutter, making room for My Spirit to take full possession. Collaborate with Me in this effort by being willing to let go of anything I choose to take away. I know what you need, and I have promised to provide all of that—abundantly!

Your sense of security must not rest in your possessions or in things going your way. I am training you to depend on Me alone, finding fulfillment in My Presence. This entails being satisfied with much or with little, accepting either as My will for the moment. Instead of grasping and controlling, you are learning to release and receive. Cultivate this receptive stance by trusting Me in every situation.

Psalm 27:4 (NIV) says this: One thing I ask from the Lord, this only do I seek: that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to gaze on the beauty of the Lord and to seek him in his temple.

Psalm 52:8 (NIV) tells us: But I am like an olive tree flourishing in the house of God; I trust in God’s unfailing love for ever and ever.

O Lord You’re Beautiful

Heavenly Father, thank You for creating beauty all around us. Help us to remember that what we see is only some of Your greatness. Teach us to trust You with lots or little. AMEN.
