I Cannot Be Christlike Alone
And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near. Hebrews 10:24-25 (ESV)
We were not created to be alone or isolated from others. If that were the case, our faith walk would be pointless. I could probably end the devotion here and just suggest that you think about this for a while, but by now you’ve learned that there is a life-lesson in here.
Imagine having a personal and awesome relationship with the Creator but never sharing it! I liken that to filling a balloon with air or a sponge with water. Sooner or later, it is going to burst or overflow. The exciting news about sharing is that the more often we talk about His love, the deeper our faith becomes.
We cannot share with ourselves. We need others. I can talk to myself but it is not always an intelligent conversation. Connecting with other believers on a regular basis is a biblical concept. It is there that we observe and thrive at a more profound level. But wait, I am not suggesting that you to go to church, or small group and then hoard the information that has been learned.
SHARE! Let others have input into your life. Talk, listen, read Scripture and then use it. Pray for others; care for those who are sick. Use your me-time to bask in His Presence. Tell others how He saved you and gave you hope. Talk about His love!
If you are on an isolated island by yourself, how can you pull this off? Be devoted to one another in love. Honor one another above yourselves. Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord. Romans 12:10-11 (NIV) Here’s a question to ponder: How can anyone serve the Lord if they are not part of a community?
I need you and you need me.
We need each other!
They’ll Know We Are Christians by Our Love
Heavenly Father, thank You for reminding us to climb off our comfy sofa and get together with others. Let the desire to share Your love be ignited during this season and forever. AMEN.
