Which Road?
In his heart a man plans his course, but the LORD determines his steps. Proverbs 16:9 (NKJV)
We all need peace in our lives! With the rushing news swirling around us as in flood waters, we grasp at whatever will sustain us until help arrives. Regardless of how much planning we put into things, sometimes the bottom falls out and we trip over our own man-made peace. Did we do something wrong? Not necessarily.
Sarah Young has a way of speaking into my heart. This is a great message about the path of Peace. Embrace His gentle, loving words that she shares.

You will not find My Peace by engaging in excessive planning, attempting to control what will happen to you in the future. That is a commonly practiced form of unbelief. When your mind spins with multiple plans, Peace may sometimes seem to be within your grasp; yet it always eludes you. Just when you think you have prepared for all possibilities, something unexpected pops up and throws things into confusion.
I did not design the human mind to figure out the future. That is beyond your capability. I crafted your mind for continual communication with Me. Bring Me all your needs, your hopes, and fears. Commit everything into My care. Turn from the path of planning to the path of Peace.
Commit your way to the Lord, trust also in Him, and He shall bring it to pass. —Psalm 37:5 (NKJV)

This brings to mind the highly acclaimed poem by Robert Frost—The Road Less Traveled. Yes, daily we are given choices. Sometimes the more trodden path looks easier, but is that the one God has called us to take? Easy is not always better. We need to be challenged and strengthened. Who knows what is around the next bend!
We are both commanded and encouraged: Humble yourselves, therefore, under God’s mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time. Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you. 1 Peter 5:6-7
One quick question—on which road will I meet up with you again?
Father God, thank You for guiding us to the right paths in life. Please give us the courage to step out in faith knowing our choice will make a difference. AMEN.
