Good to Go

So you’ll go out in joy, you’ll be led into a whole and complete life. The mountains and hills will lead the parade, bursting with song. All the trees of the forest will join the procession, exuberant with applause. No more thistles, but giant sequoias, no more thornbushes, but stately pines—Monuments to me, to God, living and lasting evidence of God. Isaiah 55:12-13 (The Message)

Are you good to go?

Have you thanked Him for everything you can think of? Did you pray? Have you had quiet time with Him? How about your Bible-reading time? This is NOT a guilt trip but only a check list.

In our business, we look to cut corners so we can get back on track as we watch the clock. What is the first thing to go? When I was working, it was the Bible reading or quiet time that went by the wayside. I would read a devotion and tell myself: ‘That about covers it!’ Not so. When I did that, it was kind of like using a twin-sized blanket on a king-sized bed. Something or someone was uncovered and cold.

I have come to realize that there is much more to our faith walk than just reading a devotion. The deep joy we feel when we praise Him for everything we can is not only an act of praise for Him but a huge blessing for us as well. There must be something more—deep inside—that wants to join with the mountains and hills as they burst into songs of praise. Do we long to join the percussive parade of trees as they applaud their Creator?

My heart beats faster with incredible joy even as I write these words. There will be no more undergrowth where our feet become tangled, and we fall. No more bruises and scratches that slow us down.

We hear the music in our hearts and step out in faith as we unite with all nature in manifold witness—God is the Ruler yet.

So, as you prepare to leave your home for business or pleasure, the question remains: Are you good to go?

 The Trees of the Field

Heavenly Father, help us not to let a day go by without praising You, our Creator. We thank You for all Your blessings. Teach us to sing along with nature to glorify Your mighty acts and deeds. AMEN
