Looking Forward to October
“The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands.” Psalm 19:1 (NIV)
October has always been one of my favorite months. It's like a beautiful gem with God’s magnificent display of foliage, vibrant sunsets, the scent of pumpkin spice lattes, the sound of geese flying overhead, and squirrels hurrying to prepare for winter. Maybe you’re beginning to think ahead to the holidays, with all the planning and busyness that comes with them. But please, take time to appreciate the glories of October and our amazing, good, and loving God!
God reveals Himself in so many ways, but one of the most vivid is through His creation. The changing leaves, the crisp morning air, the golden hour sunlight—it all points back to Him. October invites us to slow down, breathe deeply, and see the world with wonder again. Every falling leaf is a reminder that He is both an artist and a caretaker, orchestrating each season with purpose and beauty.
Creation doesn’t just happen—it is crafted by a loving God who cares about the details. The same God who paints the autumn trees with fiery reds and glowing golds also paints our lives with grace and hope. As you sip your coffee or take a walk under a canopy of falling leaves, remember that you are walking in the midst of His masterpiece.
Don’t let the month rush by unnoticed. Let October be a time to reflect, rejoice, and recognize that the beauty around us is a glimpse of the Creator’s heart.
Heavenly Father, thank You for the beauty of Your creation, especially in October. Thank You for every colorful leaf, every golden sunset, every crisp breeze that whispers Your presence. Help us to slow down and truly see the wonders around us, knowing they are gifts from Your hand. May Your creation stir our hearts to worship You, the One who made it all. Let this season remind us of Your goodness, Your faithfulness, and Your deep love for us. In Jesus' name, Amen.
