Take It on The Road
Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one's life for one's friends. John 15:13 (NIV)
ME: It feels so great to be past this holy holiday! Don’t get me wrong—I’m not saying that right, am I? There was lots of music, and it felt like I was just busy with making sure everything was in order. I wanted more time with You.
JESUS: I understand! But the good news is that you spent lots of time with me during Holy Week and I noticed it. Even your desire did not get overlooked. Your prayers for a “deeper dive” were answered. The choir gave their best because you brought them closer to Me.
ME: But somehow, in my heart, I don’t feel like it was enough.
JESUS: My precious child, you want more of a relationship with Me and that is quite obvious. How are you going to make that happen?
ME: Spending more time talking to You, reading Your holy word and asking for better understanding, then…
JESUS: …Wait! What is wrong with acting more like Me? You have been with Me for many decades. You are not a baby-Christian drinking milk any longer. You are chewing the meat. You know what the Bible says and yes, review and deep dives are always good. But it is no longer about being a pew warmer or choir member or committee chair. All you have learned from Me must be put into practical use. I came from heaven to show mankind how to live. I have called you friends, for everything that I learned from my Father I have made known to you (John 15:15, NIV). Now you must share this knowledge.
ME: So, what is my part in this?
JESUS: It does no one any good to simply sit in a church building week after week and not show signs of growth. You are my friends if you do what I command (John 15:14). Understand that you are the church.
ME: I’m sure I can do more, but I am doing some things right. Aren’t I?
JESUS: This message is for all mankind—not necessarily just for you. But at times your antics leave me to ponder. The mere fact that we have these conversations indicates a great love for Me.
ME: Yes, but I want more!
JESUS: Keep searching. You will seek me and find me, when you seek me with all your heart (Jeremiah 29:13).
