Sing a New Song!

Oh sing to the Lord a new song; sing to the Lord, all the earth! Sing to the Lord, bless his name; tell of his salvation from day to day. Declare his glory among the nations, his marvelous works among all the peoples.  Psalm 96:1-3 (ESV)

What an inspiring, uplifting and yet commanding group of verses! Where does our inspiration come from? While one would think this is a quick and easy answer, we need to dive a little deeper to find the true beauty.

Google tells us that in 2025, we were exposed to between 6,000 and 10,000 ads daily. Somehow, we managed to keep our sanity intact. Multiply that by 365 and the number is staggering! And this advertising was just a smattering of things we might have wanted but didn’t need. Some were creative, and…well, some ads were just plain stupid. While they didn’t last long, they still made an impression which means we remember them.

Music uplifts and inspires us. How about all the popular/unpopular songs we heard while we were growing up? I can tell you what I was doing, wearing, what was happening, and all the words of a few. How about you? But what is our auditory intake like today because most of us continue with yesterday’s songs.

Pictures tend to escort us down memory lane.  My phone and memory card have tons of images that I want to preserve. Are they inspiring? Mostly yes, and I review them often. I like to remember when…

People and their conversations give us plenty to think about. To be quite honest, many of my writings are inspired by phrases that I have heard when I listen intently. Don’t you just love a story of transformation? In them, we hear hope and see God’s hand at work. If they don’t catapult you into a creative mind set, have someone check your pulse.

Now, in your mind, delete all you’ve just read. Know that pure imagination and inspiration come from God and His precious words from the Bible. We don’t need more than that, do we? Actually, yes, we do. We need prayers for guidance so we can sing a new song each day. Tomorrow we can tell everyone what He did for us today.

What a novel idea!

I Will Celebrate and Sing unto the Lord a New Song

Creator God, thank You for reminders to ignore the world—not serving as the world does. Help us to sing a new song daily and share Your greatness each day. AMEN.
