Jesus, The Way
Jesus said, ‘I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.’ John 14:6
When my sister first got her driver's licence she loved to take me for rides. When it seemed to me that we had been driving a Long time, I would ask, “Are you sure you know where you’re going?” She would emphatically answer, “Don’t be silly, of course I know the way!” Many times we both discovered that she really didn’t.
I think there are times when we can be a little like that with God. We set off confidently, convinced we know where we’re going. We make our plans, choose our direction, and hope we’ll somehow find our way. But before long, we realize that life has taken an unexpected turn, and we’re not quite sure where we are anymore.
Jesus’ words in John 14:6 are wonderfully reassuring because He doesn’t simply say, “I will show you the way.” He says, “I am the way.” We don’t have to figure everything out on our own. We don’t have to have the whole journey mapped out before we can take the next step. We have Jesus.
He is the way when we feel lost, the truth when we are confused, and the life when our hearts feel weary. Following Him doesn’t mean we will always know what is around the next corner. It means we can trust the One who does.
So today, if you’re unsure of the direction ahead, you don’t have to panic. You don’t have to pretend you know the way. Simply stay close to Jesus. He knows where He is taking you.
Lord Jesus, thank You for being the way when we feel lost and uncertain. Help us to trust You rather than relying on our own understanding. Guide our steps today, and give us peace knowing that You are with us every step of the journey. Through faith in You as Savior and Lord, You will lead us now and eternally. Amen.
