Refresh the Weary and Satisfy the Faint by Patricia Tichonoff
For I will satisfy the weary soul, and every languishing soul I will replenish. Jeremiah 31:25
I have been experiencing some faith renewals, and they came in a very surprising way. My grandson was visiting from Seattle, WA. I looked forward to being with him and I have always loved his sweet, kind spirit. It has always been refreshing to see how this young man handles himself. This summer visiting with him brought new surprises. Since he was a small boy, we have talked about who God is and His Son, Jesus.
The seed that was planted years ago was finally blooming. Roots had taken hold. Today, he is a fine 21-year-old young man. My son and his wife have taught him to be polite and respectful and how to treat others. They have done a fantastic job, but now I am seeing the special gift God is preparing for him.
From his birth, I have prayed over my grandson. However, I was not prepared when he shared his feelings about wanting to be baptized. I began silently praying for his request. It was as though Jesus lit a fire within me. We talked and I encouraged him during the time he was with me. This experience brought a renewal to my own spirit.
With life, we get bogged down and deflated with negativity that stagnates us without realizing it. It keeps us from being lifted in the spirit of Christ. When we share Christ with others, we are also meeting our own needs with His spirit.
In my heart I knew that Christ had been holding my grandson in His hands. I also believe that he will be baptized by the Holy Spirit in the days to come. The many times I have thought about him and his future is natural, but the gift of seeing and talking with him and wanting Christ to be a part of him is one of many blessed prayers that have been answered in my life.
This special time also provided a renewal of my own love for Him. My grandson stated that he now knows the importance of being in a relationship with Christ and being part of the community of believers.
I will continue to believe that God will Refresh the Weary and Satisfy the Faint!
Heavenly Father, You are the keeper of the heart and our prayers. Thank you for refreshing me by sharing your love with others. AMEN.
